Sending SMS from your Switchvox Switchboard

We’ve created two easy to use interfaces that will allow your Switchvox users to send SMS messages from their Switchboard using .e4SIP’s SMS API.


  • .e4SIP account with DID
  • Switchvox System with Admin Credentials
  • Using .e4SIP for inbound calls (Option 1 only)

Option 1 (Auto Populate Caller ID Number):

It is easy to create a custom Switchboard panel with Switchvox.  This example pulls the inbound caller id number from our SIP trunk’s inbound call and presents it to the app. This auto populates the number in the SMS panel on Switchboard when an inbound call arrives to the agent’s extension. From there the agent can type the message that they need to send in to the SMS panel. Once sent, the agent is greeted with a success message that lists the SMS text.

Please note: All non toll free DIDs on.e4SIP are inbound SMS capable. If a caller replies to a message your agent has sent they will be delivered via email. These messages can also be obtained via our SMS Message Detail Report (MDR) API call or by downloading the MDR report file as .csv in the .e4SIP portal. All in/outbound SMS messages cost $.01 with our service.

We understand that not all users will be using .e4SIP for inbound service. We wanted this technology to be accessible by users of other SIP services. With this in mind, we’ve created an additional panel that allows the agent to manually enter the number that will receive the text message.
